House Party 0.4.2.0 Sneak Peek

House Party 0.4.2.0 Sneak Peek

Jan 28

Hey guys,

Here’s a break-down of all of the expected updates coming to House Party 0.4.2.0.  There’s a lot of awesome stuff in this build.  I’m going to push to get a little more content done before the actual release day, but I already have a huge laundry list of things that are going to be included in this build, which covers some very long-awaited functionality.

0.4.2.0 is slated to be released to $25.00+ supporters on 2/1/17.  The updates from this build will be released to $10.00+ supporters on 2/15/17, and it will be released publicly on 3/17/17.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect out of 0.4.2.0 so far!

Save/Load Games:

Players will finally have the ability to Save and Load their games!  There’s really not much to explain about it beyond that, but I feel like I should be writing more about it because players have been asking me for this feature for so long!  Dun du du daa!  It’s here!  You now have the ability to save your game in up to 10 save slots, and load them back up at will.

User Interface Overhaul:

So the entire user interface has been overhauled.  Without getting too technical, I converted the system to all use the same underlying mechanics, so the result is a much smoother UI.  I also touched up some areas and made them look a little more slick.  I did away with the Achievements system because it was pretty much the same thing as the questing system.  In its place, I added images alongside the questing system that change over time as you work on the quest, and I think overall it is a much nicer system.  Check it out and see what you think!

Custom Stories:

For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, last week I released the House Party Custom Story Creator software.  This will allow you to create your own custom House Party stories even with having zero experience in either programming or Unity.  I’ve already been working closely with a few eager individuals, so there are already some custom stories being worked on.  The custom stories can be uploaded and shared and loaded into your House Party game, and I may include some select stories in the actual builds.  It’s awesome to see that there are already people jumping on this and writing stories!

Anti-Aliasing:

For those of you who don’t know what Anti-Aliasing is, it basically just makes the game look smoother and sharper.  For those that do, I’ve added an anti-aliasing filter to the main camera (can be turned on and off via settings) that adds a lot to the overall look of the game!

Tone-Mapping/Color Enhancement:

Also in the interest of bringing a smooth and great-looking gaming experience to the table, a tone-mapping/color enhancement filter has been added to the main camera (can be turned off via settings).  This really brings out the colors of the game and makes for an overall more realistic and less washed out type of look.

Laying Down:

Characters can now lay down on beds.  (Bow-chicka-bow-wow!).  No seriously though, in the same fashion they were recently able to sit down in chairs, characters and the player can now lay down on beds.  You may see this happen throughout the game that they might just up and decide to take a load off and relax on Madison’s bed for a bit.  Of course, getting these characters (and the player) into these laying down positions opens up new possibilities for future erotic scenes!

Custom Story Creator Updates:

Along with build 0.4.2.0 comes another version of the House Party Story Creator.  The House Party default stories have been completely re-written inside of the Story Creator so that every single aspect of what happens in each of the characters’ stories are driven by the story file, and the original stories are included in the creator.  This means you can take a look and see how House Party accomplishes each story, and use that as a premise to create your own stories!  There’s also a new section called “Event Triggers” that will allow story writers to set up events when a number of things happen in the game, which makes writing custom stories even easier!

The best news is that everything I’m reporting on here is already done!  That means I’ll have a few days to work on some new content to include in 0.4.2.0 in addition to all of these updates!  This is by far one of the biggest updates of the game yet, and the new features are going to add the ability for the player community to start contributing content.  I’ve been working toward some of the these features for a long time, and your support has helped me get to the point where it’s now a reality, and I thank all of you immensely for that.  I also plan on featuring stories and also possibly including some of the best story submissions in the game itself as an alternate story path.

Introducing the Official House Party Custom Story Creator!

Introducing the Official House Party Custom Story Creator!

Jan 24

Hey guys,

Exciting news today!  I’ve officially launched the first version of a new tool that will allow you all to write your own custom stories for House Party!  You don’t need any programming or Unity experience to get started.  If you do have experience in either of those things, even better!  It’s not necessary though, because the Story Creator is really easy to use!  All you need to do is to think up a good story and dive in!  Note, this is the first version of the story creator, so feedback will be much appreciated, and you can share your thoughts on more things to include on the forum.

If you’re already convinced, click the link below to get started:
Introducing the Official House Party Custom Story Creator!

The tool lets you do things like create custom quests, dialogues, personalities, and trigger game events.  You will be able to dictate how the character will react to items, the player, and other characters using the tool, and then with the click of a button, you will be able to import that story into the game, or export it so you can share it!

This is the first step in taking the House Party game to a whole new level of customization and unlocking an almost never-ending amount of game-play!  Tired of the original stories?  Just download some new ones and dive in!

There are already a few writers who have taken an early interest and have already begun writing custom stories for the game, so we should hopefully start seeing some stories popping up very soon.  Keep a close eye on the forum.  I’ve made a special section just for sharing stories, and another section for help, suggestions and questions about the Story Creator.

Enjoy!

House Party 0.4.1.0 Released to $10+ Supporters. Public Release Coming Soon.

Jan 15

Hey guys,

House Party 0.4.1.0 has been released to $10.00+ supporters, and 0.3.5.0 is slated to be released publicly on 1/17/16.  To grab this latest version of the game or to become a supporter, visit my Patreon page.

I spent most of the time since I put out my last post just cleaning up some bugs and testing to make sure all of the stories were in tact, so as far as new content goes for this version, look to my last post.  I added a few things here and there, but nothing worth mentioning that wasn’t already discussed a few days ago.

Overall though, this feels like a very stable version, and that’s the goal on the 15th of each month.  Enjoy!

Jan 11

Hey guys!

We’re almost halfway through January.  Hope you guys are having a great 2017 so far.  I figured I’m make a post to let you guys in on what to expect of the January release of House Party.  No video this time because honestly, I think it would violate YouTube’s terms of service to show some of the new stuff I’ve been working on.  I’ll just let you guys discover it all for yourselves!  On the 15th of this month, I’ll be releasing House Party 0.4.1.0 to $10+ supporters, and a couple days later on the 17th, I will be releasing 0.3.5.0 publicly.  You can check the older posts to find out more about what’s in 0.3.5.0.  Let’s talk about 0.4.1.0!

Upgraded to Unity 5.5:

I know it might not seem like a big deal, but I’ve ported the Unity project to Unity 5.5.  It was actually a huge pain in the ass because the built-in Unity upgrade process kept crashing every time I tried to update it, so I had to get clever and peace-meal the project and import it to a 5.5 project a little at a time.  In the end, I was able to make the upgrade.  This does a few things for me.  First off, I get to stay up to date with new technologies that come out.  I’m always reworking stuff and making sure that I am using the latest and greatest when it comes to third party tools, and a lot of the tools have been upgraded to take advantage of the newer versions of Unity, and of course the game itself can take advantage of the newer Unity version’s features and optimizations.

I also separated the Character Engine into its own project.  This is awesome because I can now officially add the engine to another project and keep it in sync.  Hint, hint!  There may be something else in the works from Eek! Games announced very soon, especially that we are getting to the point in House Party where I’ve been rapidly adding new content.  But don’t worry!  I don’t think I’ll ever stop adding content to House Party.  My vision for the game is to just keep making it more and more open world and adding new story arcs, but it is nice that I now have the option to work on something new and keep all of the character engine and game mechanics that I already worked on for House Party in tact.  I’ve always wanted to do a Trainer or Corruption type game.  We’ll see what happens.  Now I can work on House Party and add cool new stuff to the engine, and immediately have all of that functionality cross over into whatever other project I’m working on, and then whatever new toys I build into it there can conversely come right back into House Party.  Pretty cool stuff!

Beer Pong:

Okay, maybe it’s just the geek in me, but after I got beer pong working in House Party, I spent a ton of time just playing around with it by myself in the garage.  It doesn’t work in the sense where you can actually challenge any of the characters or play against them, but I was having a ton of fun just practicing throwing the balls into the cups.  I think that’s a good sign because having a base mechanic that’s fun in and of itself will lend toward that much more enjoyment when it’s actually worked into the game.  It’s coming!

Updated the Money Shot:

In 0.4.0.0, the ability of the player to orgasm was worked into the game in tandem with the blowjob functionality.  After all, what good is a blowjob if there’s no climax?  Well anyway, I spent a lot of time working on the blowjob mechanics and not too much time working on the actual climax.  In 0.4.1.0, I spent a lot more time working on the cinematics and the physics of the actual climax.  I also added a new game mechanic and player ability, masturbation!

Masturbation:

I’m well-aware that masturbation doesn’t sound like a promising feature for an erotic game, but bear with me.  This is actually a lot of fun.  We’re just getting the grass roots of erotic material into the game at this point, and I’m wanting to showcase how the erotic scenes are going to play out, and have the players get familiar with the mechanics of them.  I figured what better way to do that than to allow the player to do it himself?  Additionally, this game is intended to be very open world, and the point of games like this is that we can fantasize about doing things that we can’t do in real life and get away with.  Like for instance; walking around at a House Party, masturbating, and ejaculating on anything and everything, including people.  Of course, I also worked this new feature into one of the stories so it serves a purpose in the game, but keeping in theme with the open world of the game, the player also has the ability to just walk around and do it whenever he damn well pleases, and other characters will react to it.  I thought I was having fun playing Beer Pong until I just spent some time walking around and seeing characters’ reactions to an unexpected facial.  Of course I wrote them all, so I knew what to expect, but I think you guys will have a lot of fun with this one.

General Bug Fixes:

Other than that, I patched up a lot of bugs and game-play issues.  I’ve been listening to you guys and your input, and the game is running pretty solid I think!  We’re gearing up for a smooth 1/15 release!  Stay tuned!

House Party Beta 0.4.0.0 Released to $25.00+ Supporters!

Jan 02

Hey guys,

Ok, I’ve just gotta say, I’m really excited about this release.  And you should be too.  One thing that you guys have been harping on me about is when there was going to be any actual erotic scenes in the game.  Well, the time has come.  I spent a lot of time getting all of the fine details together, and I think they really pay off in the first erotic scene in the game.  Keep reading the update notes below for more details on exactly what the new scene entails.

This new build is available to $25.00+ supporters as of today, and these new mechanics will be available to $10.00+ supporters after they’ve been tested a bit on or around January 15th, and then that build will go public on or around February 17th.

Here are the major updates to look for in 0.4.0.0.

Revamped House

The house has gotten some major updates including a bunch of new furniture.  I also limited the amount of furniture that you can knock around.  At first I thought it was really cool that you could bump into and move almost everything in the game, but as there is more and more game-play afoot, these mechanisms have started to get in the way, so I pulled back and put it where I thought it was necessary, and scaled back in places I thought weren’t adding any value to the game.

Revamped Lighting

I think the lighting looks gorgeous in this build.  I’m finally really happy with the way the characters and the house seam together.  When you’re pulling resources from various places (for instance, the characters are created in Daz Studio, and the rest of the models are downloaded from various places),  you really need to rely on shaders and lighting to get everything just right.  I think I’ve finally found that zone, and I am really enjoying moving around in the game in the new atmosphere.  It really adds a lot to game play, and gives the game a fresh feel.  I felt like the game was kind of over-lit before and it was showing some of the seams where these different assets were coming together.

First Erotic Scene:

A lot of people have been wondering how the erotic scenes in the game were going to work.  Well, you don’t have to wonder anymore.  This version of House Party allows the player to receive a blow-job from two different characters in the game.  You’ll have to play through the game to unlock this scene, and it will be something that will generically be available with any character that you can get their relationship bar high enough with, but it will give you an idea of how these scenes and future scenes are going to play out.  I’ve done a lot of research and took elements I liked best from different places.  The only other 3D game I have to compare with is X Story Player, but the oral and regular sex always felt very clumsy to me in that game.  There was just too much user input to get it just right, and when you did, it was easy to mess it up again.  I suppose that correlates well to real life, but my argument to that is that this is supposed to be fantasy!  I’m not trying to dis the game.  I think it’s fantastically done, but it wasn’t the direction I wanted to take my game in this aspect.  Freedom is nice.  Too much can distract from the player goals, and let’s face it, when you’ve gotten to the point of unlocking the erotica scene, it requires a less hands on approach, if you know what I mean.  So I gave the scene interaction, but not too much, so you can kind of guide the action, but also sit back and enjoy it.  Of course, this is the first rendition of this scene, so it will certainly be enhanced and more things to do and ways to interact will be introduced, but I think it’s off to a great start.

Orgasm:

Obviously with the introduction of sex scenes, it’s important that we have some kind of orgasm controller.  I solved this rather easily by giving the player an “Orgasm” meter.  When the meter peaks, the orgasm happens, and then there’s a cool-down period before the player can have another one.  I thought this was a realistic way to handle it, and also allows the player to recharge himself as he moves forward to unlock other content in the game or just check out what the other characters are doing in the meantime.  The “end” of the night (no matter the outcome of your actions) is a free-world, so the thinking there is that you can just keep going back and revisiting any sex scenes you’ve unlocked once the rest meter has gone down.  I should also mention that I think the orgasm climax is a really cool scene.  I’m actually slowing down the game time when it happens so it can be savored, and it’s a pretty realistic looking cum shot for a first attempt I thought.

Overall, I’m excited to get some feedback on the new systems.  Enjoy!
