House Party Beta 0.3.1.0 Now Available to Supporters!

Hey guys,

As promised, here is the House Party October release.  Lots of new changes in this version, and it is running very stable.  This is a milestone release because I’m feeling like the engine is running very smoothly, and I can focus a lot of my time next month on details instead of painstaking under the hood stuff that you guys don’t see.  Of course, I’m sure a lot of you notice the better AI, interaction, movement, and gameplay as a result of the engine work, but I know you guys are getting anxious to get more game play out of me, and we’ve gotten to the point where each new build should have a decent amount more, starting with this one!

This new version is available to $25.00+ supporters as of today, and will be available to $10.00+ supporters on November 15th, and $1.00 supporters on December 15th.  To become a supporter or to download the latest version if you already are, visit the Eek! Games Patreon page.  The August release will also officially be available to the public on November 15th as well.

The biggest feature of this new version is the Questing system, which you will be able to use to keep track of which objectives you’ve completed and not completed each play through.  Here is an Official List of Quests Available in the Game.  This will help you keep track as to whether or not you’ve unlocked all available content.  This list will be updated with each release.

User Controls:

  • W, S – Move forward/back
  • A, D – Strafe left/right
  • C, Z – Crouch/Stand
  • Alternately, hold down both mouse buttons to move forward
  • Right Mouse click and drag to move camera
  • Press I or use the icon on the bottom-right for inventory
  • Press Left or Right or use the on-screen arrows to cycle through inventory items
  • Left Click on a character to talk to them.
  • Left Click on an object to interact with it (Must be close enough)
  • Left Click on a dialogue option to select it.
  • Press Escape or use the icon on the bottom-right to pull up the game menu
  • Press R or use the icon on the bottom-right to pull up the Quest window
  • Press Control to bring up a 3D virtual hand to interact with the world with

System Requirements:

  • Windows 7+
  • Graphics card: DX9 (shader model 3.0) capabilities; generally everything made since 2005 should work.
  • CPU: SSE2 instruction set support.
  • Recommended Resolution: 1900 x 1200 or higher.

Monitor Resolution:

  • Optimized for 2560×1440, but will work on most.
  • Recommended: 1600×900 or greater.
  • Minimum: 1024×768 (Some text may be cut off at this resolution).

    Seems like everyone is rooted in place as I am playing. None of the characters are moving. I grabbed a bottle of wine in front of Frank and he did nothing but say that I was dead. Do I need to redownload?

      Yeah I would re-download. It doesn’t seem like that would even be possible aside from a damaged file. I know a lot of others are playing the game with no issues.

    well i think ive done everything in the demo, and while i understand that the game has been rebuilt from the ground up, part of me is still sad that three topless chicks is as far as it goes so far. would have loved full nudity of some kind.
    that said this is a massive improvement over the old version. graphically of course everything looks crisp and new. and i like some of the character design tweaks, especially Brittany’s top. speaking of though her top will tend to flash quickly at some points and im not sure why.
    i also like the ability to tinker with things like the phone in the inventory.
    if i have any complaints beyond its the fact that its in progress which limits the nudity its that the fight with frank and drunk guy lasts way too long and halts the game cause all the npcs come to watch.
    also the new movement system can make it a pain to keep tabs on character who aren’t supposed to be around for certain things, leading me to restart several times because Ashley overheard the PC plotting with Maddison or Frank seeing me take a wine bottle cause he looped around for some reason or Maddison saw me steal her diary and all because they snuck up on me.
    also Maddison can seem to see though walls because if shes anywhere on the top floor she will know you stole her diary, closed doors or no.
    also i like the implementation of pulling immediate pranks on the girls to see boobs. hope there’ll be more of that. is it just Maddison and Brittany you can do that to?
    anyway that all i have to say, love the game and hope there’s more nudity next time!

      Thanks for the feedback. This was a massive re-write, and it really needed to be done. The engine before was ok, but it was lacking in a lot of areas where this one is not. Even just the AI and the way the characters look and respond to you and with each other (I think) adds a great deal of depth to the game. Unfortunately, it takes time for a one-man team to accomplish that, so that’s why there’s a lack of nudity and game-play thus far.

      At this point, I am regularly adding new content to the game though. Most of the groundwork is in place, and am mostly fine-tuning the engine without having to add whole new features in order to add a scene or story progression.

      I know Madison can see through walls. I need to make her catch you only if she is in the bedroom. But as far as the moving around and stuff, I think that adds to the realism of the game. Eventually this game will be packed full of things to do and avenues to take, and will feel a lot more rewarding. I can understand where if you’re trying to accomplish one or two things right now, it can be a deterrent, but I plan to make a large variety of things possible specifically depending on the placement of the girls, so your choices will more have to be on the fly, and every play-through will give you something unique. (At least that’s my vision).

        ok cool. also i forgot to mention that i couldn’t get the PCs penis out. i’d assume it wasn’t implemented yet if it wasn’t in the controls up there.

          Yes, that will be back soon. I haven’t had a chance to re-implement it into the new version yet.
